instructional design meets course development

Is there a blurring of the skills that are needed of the ID and the developer (course design technician) in most higher ed. institutions. Is this a good thing?

I think so.

For a long time the ID person seems to keep there hands off of the development, the uploading and other work that may get their hands dirty. This has to change! Developers are keen to get involved in project management and providing the expertise for good online teaching and learning. These folks should be assisted in developing these skills.

So how is this going to happen?

Add your suggestions below.
